Telkom Preparing IPTV, to Anticipate the Declining Wireline Subscribers

IPTV TelkomPT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) is ready to enter new businesses IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) as an effort to improve the multimedia-based technology services to customers.

Business transformation can not inevitable in Telkom . Currently, service-based wireline PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network) is declining, as the lifestyle changes that society needs to be revitalized.

Efforts to maintain traditional business, done by optimizing the fixed cable channel network (fixed wireline), alignment of cellular services and fixed wireless access (FWA), and separating the FWA as a separate business unit, as well as streamlining the portfolio of subsidiaries.

Currently, IPTV services have been tested in five major cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Denpasar.

Earlier, Minister of Communications and Information Technology minister issued Regulation No. 30/PER/M.KOMINFO/8/2009, about the implementation of internet protocol television service (IPTV) in Indonesia on August 19, 2009.

IPTV is a technology that provides convergent services in the form of radio and television broadcasts, video, audio, text, graphics, and data which is distributed to subscribers through the Internet.
