The Business Model of Fintech Platform in Indonesia


Berdasarkan data dari Indonesia's Fintech Association (IFA) dalam dua tahun terakhir ini pertumbuhan Fintech Players sangat fenomenal yaitu sekitar 78%. Pada akhir tahun 2016 ada sekitar 140 fintech players di Indonesia.

Fintech Indonesia bekerjasama dengan DailySocial me-release Indonesia Fintech Report 2016 yang salah satunya berisi fact finding fintech market di Indonesia yaitu
  • Only 36% adults in Indonesia have an account at the formal financial institution.
  • The penetration of bank branches per 100K population is only 1/6 of the penetration in European countries.
  • 49 million SMEs unit not yet bankable.
  • There are Rp 988 trillion gap financing the development.
  • P2P lending is still under Rp 150 billion.
  • he share of new credit to GDP is still 34.77% (bank). It reflects a huge market potential that can be targeted by fintech (P2P lending), without having to erode banks’ market share.
  • 50% people send remittances through banks.
  • 44% people borrow money from friends & family members.
  • 27% people save money in their bank account.
  • 9% people use credit cards for payments.

Fact Finding tersebut yang mendorong berkembangnya Fintech di Indonesia dari Fintech 2.0 (Conventional Financial Institutions/Bank) ke Fintech 2.5 (Joint Venture Financial Institutions & Tech Company) dan saat ini yang sedang booming yaitu Fintech 3.0 (Independent technology company/Startup).

Data dari IFA juga menyatakan bahwa 43% dari pemain Fintech di Indonesia bergerak di sektor payment (mobile payment, payment gateway), hal tersebut terjadi seiring dengan pertumbuhan eCommerce. Business Model lainnya yaitu Lending 17%, Agregator 13%, Personal Finance Planning 8%, Crowdfunding 8% dan model bisnis lainnya 11%.
