New WiFi specification will enable wireless devices to find and connect with other devices without the need for routers.
Specification of the new WiFi called WiFi Direct has just been announced by the WiFi Alliance, an industry group that promotes innovation in Wi-Fi technology.
They claim, by making it easier to connect directly with devices equipped with WiFi the other, most likely this new specification will challenge the existence of other wireless technologies like Bluetooth.
This capability directly reduce the need for WiFi router in some places because of changing gadgets into a mini Wi-Fi access point.
Meanwhile, WiFi Direct specification also offers the same functionality. The difference is, these technologies make it easier for devices to find each other and connected to each other. WiFi Alliance plans to soon publish the specifications of peer to peer WiFi recently and marketed in 2010.
